Pre-rolled RAW cones are hard to beat for convenience and a clean, slow burn. You skip the frustration of hand-rolling, and the built-in crutch keeps everything sturdy.
A few quick tips to get the smoothest burn without any canoeing or tight draws:
* Pack in layers, not all at once: Drop in a small pinch, tamp it lightly with the packing stick, and repeat. If you dump everything in and shove down from the top, it creates dense pockets and empty air gaps.
* Firm at the bottom, lighter at the top: Pack the base near the filter tip slightly firmer so the joint doesn’t bend or crease while smoking. As you get closer to the top, use a lighter touch so the airflow stays open.
* Leave room for the twist: Stop filling about a quarter-inch below the rim. Pinch the excess paper and give it a firm twist into a wick—this locks the pack and makes lighting much more even.
* Toast before pulling: Before taking the first drag, hold your flame just off the twisted tip and rotate the cone slowly until an even cherry forms.
